The GZEM duo is a cross-cultural group consisting of Chih-Lin Chou, guzheng, (21-string Chinese zither) and Yang Li, erhu (two string chinese spike fiddle). The group's repertoire ranges from solo to trio with dancer, classical and folk Chinese music to improvisations. The unique features of this Montreal-based group is its incorporation of modern ideas, such as video and electro acoustics and its aim of diversity through unity, reflected in traditional elements being integrated into modern improvisations among the two instrumentalists.
