Ni Komang Swijani

Ni Komang Swijani was born in Ubud, Bali, and now lives in Montreal since 1992. Like many children in Bali, she began learning traditional dance at a very young age. From the time she arrived in Canada, she took part as a dancer in many concerts by balinese music ensemble Giri Kedaton, in residence at Université de Montréal, as well as for the Indonesian embassy in Ottawa and Toronto. She also gave many balinese dance workshops, at École nationale de théâtre and at the Service des Activités culturelles (SAC) of Université de Montréal among others. She is still performing traditional or modern dance, as well as new creations of her own, in all sorts of events around Montreal.
