Bollywood Party and Other Perfumes from India

Montreal, April 19th, 2007 - The closing ceremony of the 12th edition of Festival Accès Asie celebrates Bollywood, Indian cinema. In collaboration with director, Caroline Tabah who is responsible for the conception of this project, this party consists of choreographers, images from India, Bollywood music and many other musical inspirations from India. The closing ceremony is a unique opportunity for the public to indulge in an irresistible journey into the heart of Bollywood with cheerful dancing and music from the Orient that is beautifully intertwined with romance and epic adventures.

Deeply rooted in Indian culture, Bollywood takes on a greater significance than sheer entertainment. With it's 800 annual film productions, it is a platform onto which traditional and regional cultures express a new "Pan-Indian" culture. Reaching over 15 million spectators daily, Bollywood spreads across the national frontiers of India gaining popularity in Europe, North America as well as in Quebec.

Following the remarkable success of the Bollywood performances in the fall of 2005 and the summer of 2006, Caroline Tabah proposes the 3rd edition of a Bollywood Party and Other Perfumes from India. This program offers endless exciting performances by dancers and professional choreographers such as Manijeh Ali de Silken Dance, Bollywood Blast, Virsa Punjab Da, Samantha Burnstein with presentations of short music and dance film extracts from Bollywood movies that are basking in the magic of cinema. Animated by a DJ, the public is invited to join in and dance to the rhythms of India.

This 3rd edition of Bollywood Party and Other Perfumes from India is a philanthropic event helping children in underdeveloped regions in India. The funds collected during the event will be donated to the organization "Jeunes musicians du monde" which offers a music school to youth in India. While exploring India's cultural wealth, the school also seeks to promote a free access to Indian music offering a chance of personal achievement for the children.

Festival Acces Asie is proud to collaborate with Caroline Tabah ending the festivities of May as the month of Asian Heritage with an exciting show that expresses beauty, sentiment and joy and that celebrates Indian culture bringing hope to children in India.
