Les Porteurs d'Orients

Montreal, April 19th, 2007 - Celebrating Asian Heritage Month, Festival Accès Asie collaborates with the magazine, Estuaire for a special edition launch with a serie No. 127 titled as Les Porteurs d'orients featuring poems that are sparked with flavors of the Orient. On Mai 17th 2007, this memorable dedication to poetry will be a rare opportunity for the public to experience, first-hand, the distinguishing voice of talented non-Asian and Asian poets from Quebec. The public will be invited to indulge in the fleeting delights of haïku and will be charmed by contemporary poetry brought alive in the company of authors as messengers about the Orient.

Founded in Quebec in 1976, the magazine, Estuaire is one of the oldest Francophone publications dedicated entirely to poetry. Encouraging fundamental characteristics of poetry mainly the aspects of creation, thoughts, and research, Estuaire promotes both known and emergent artists. It offers a wealthy collection of poems of delicate and aesthetic quality and since its beginning; Estuaire has welcomed this form of creative writing to facilitate the ongoing dialogue between poets from Quebec and with those from elsewhere.

With a presence at various prestigious events such as the Montreal Poetry Market, the International Festival of Literature and the Blue Metropolis Festival, Estuaire offers the public a remarkable and genuine perspective on contemporary poetry. In 2006 celebrating its thirtieth year of experience, Estuaire is acknowledged as an indispensable reference to the world of Quebecois poetry.

This special edition of No.127 Les Porteurs d'orients is a selection of poems proposed by José Acquelin who has been interested and inspired by poets from the East such as Lao Tseu, Omar Khayyâm ou Djalâl-od-Dîn Rûmi. Broadening Acquelin's idea, Estuaire embarks on a journey to a world of poetry with oriental inspirations also exploring the poetry which inspired the oriental poetry. This special edition showcases such authors as: Francine Alepin, Francois Charron, Gilles Cyr, André Duhaime, Monique Juteau, Naïm Kattan, Nancy R. Lange, Yves Laroche, Carol Lebel, Nadine Ltaif, Jean Marcel, Bahman Sadighi, Hossein Sharang, Marie Sunahara and Larry Tremblay.
