What an attraction!
Festival Accès Asie jumped at the opportunity to participate in this new "journée de la culture" edition in collaboration with Gesù - Centre de créativité.
On Saturday, September 29th, after a quick creator's residence at noon in the Gesù church, this 'parcours interculturels' will make an atypical short-stop in a contemporary sacred setting with the Indian dancer, Meena Murugesan at 1.11 p.m. A get-together meeting will follow, with the artist. Thrilling!
A few words about the contemporary Indian dancer Meena Murugesan~
Meena is a dancer and filmmaker dedicating to creating sacred spaces that are conducive to personal and social transformation. Her experience in training and performing 'Bharatha Natyam' - a south Indian dance form (25 years), film (10 years) and eastern energetic bodywork therapy, inspire her to find the spaces where these forums meet and have the power to raise consciousness. She has been fortunate to collaborate with remarkable artists, storytellers, dancers, musicians and activists in Canada, the United States, India, West Africa, Chile and Brazil. Meena is currently working on a one-woman contemporary Indian performance piece entitled 'AVAL' with New-York based theatre director Josefina Baez, and co-directing a dance film entitled 'Territoires Féminins' with contemporary dancer/choreographer Marie-Claude Rodrigue. As a Shiatsu and Chi Nei Tsang massage therapist, Meena incorporates a holistic approach to her art.
